Sheldon Snyder was born and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. After studying art at The High School Of Music and Art in Manhattan and at the Brooklyn Museum Art School he became an art major at Syracuse University. Sheldon Snyder has designed and made jewelry, pottery, wood sculpture and wood toys, and has been writing and illustrating children's books, as well as painting in his characteristic 'flat' style. While living in Greenwich Village, New York City, he and his wife Ruby owned a store called Scarlatti Ceramics. In their Provincetown, Massachusetts years they founded Katan Toys, which they later moved to Rye, New York. For four years Sheldon, Ruby and their daughter Tova lived in Israel, where their son Tor was born. Sheldon Snyder lives and works in Rye, New York. |
